Customer in the French tyre industry. The customer required a wide, self-guiding, smooth, synchronous and joinable conveyor system for transferring rubber plies.
As the transfer width was greater than 1300 mm, a standard solution was not compatible. The industrial customer required belts with a guiding system. The guide, 13mm wide and 6.5mm high, had to be perfectly straight to ensure correct alignment of the product being transferred.
We used three GATES WT10 wide belts mounted in parallel on the conveyor, which also enabled us to longitudinally join two belts to exceed the maximum extrusion width of 450mm provided by our supplier GATES. At the bottom, a PAZ polyamide woven fabric was recommended for better sliding.
To save time during assembly and to avoid any marks on the rubber, we installed the patented ERO Joint®. The principle of this joint was to maintain good tensile strength and to have an embedded system avoiding any marks on the product in contact.
In the end, a polyurethane Belt with aramid Cords 478 mm wide was made with a K13 central drive guide over a length of 3030 for this model (different lengths were produced). A PAZ woven fabric for sliding and a mechanical joint with 3 stainless steel ERO Joint® ribbed flat rods:
