Our strong commitment to technological independence and the development of technical products led us to set up the Research and Development unit in 2008.
This enables us to perfect our processes, design and commission our production machines and develop Tanals-designed products.
We also have a laboratory and testing and calculation facilities that enable us to recommend the most appropriate product or develop the product best suited to your application.
Materials testing and research
We have developed our own elastic belts for specific applications. To this end, we have developed a method for characterising materials and testing relaxation. In 2012, we invested in the development of our own polyurethane to offer endless elastic belts and belt coatings with particularly high abrasion resistance.
We regularly carry out material or splice rupture tests, stiffness measurements, splice or coating peel tests, abrasion tests, dynamic tests, coefficient of friction measurements and relaxation measurements. (These tests can be carried out at 20°C or at the application temperature).
Development of our polyurethane
Since 2010, we have been developing our own high-performance polyurethane for elastic belts (relaxation resistance) and belt coatings (abrasion resistance). We can use it to make endless belts and coatings ranging from 35 shore A to 55 shore D.
Development of joining processes
We develop all our splicing processes in-house, with the aim of obtaining the best-performing belts for the most demanding applications. In 2012, we are developing our process for manufacturing endless polyurethane elastic belts, as well as the application of endless polyurethane coatings to closed belts.
Development of ERO splices (mechanical splices)
Since 2010, we have been developing ERO splices in polyurethane timing belts, conveyor belts, one-piece belts, PolyChain and PU V-belts. To make these belts easier to fit, we have also developed a number of tools. These innovations, protected by ten patents, provide new maintenance solutions and reduce production line downtime.
